Read on our blog to know the brief history of Valentine's day;

1.    This day is the second largest  festival celebrated, for the number of cards that are sent out all over the world, after Christmas. Valentine's day is said to be celebrated or even named from Saint Valentine. Saint Valentine was a patron Saint & priest who served in Rome in the third century.

2.    During that era, there existed a certain Emperor named Claudius who ruled Rome. He believed that men who married failed to do their duty faithfully as soldiers. That is why he outlawed marriages of young soldiers.

3.    Saint Valentine fought against this & also helped perform many secret marriages of such young soldiers who were in love. This enraged the emperor & he had Saint Valentine imprisoned. It is also said that during this time Saint Valentine himself wrote a letter to his love, the jailer’s daughter, stating the actual words “from your Valentine” which are used till today! He was martyred for this purpose & Feb 14 was that fateful day.

This is why people celebrate this day as Valentine's day & buy valentine gifts online in memory of the Saint who fought for love.
